タイのマンションの番犬？ロム。ロム → タイ語で「風」
ロムは最初は野良ちゃんだった。
10年位前、ヨレヨレでキズだらけだった彼をマンションの警備員さんかメイドさんの誰かが面倒見てあげて以来すっかりマンションの住人となってしまった。
ロムのお気に入りの場所はマンションの入口の涼しい所。
ロムに限らずタイの犬は本当に愛想が無いと言うか･･･、マイペース。
むこうからシッポを振って飛んでくるってまず無い。
暑いって事もあるのだろう、よっぽどの事が無い限り吠えないし
そんなに全速力で走り周っている犬の姿も見かけない気がする。
とにかく犬ものんびり。
ロムもとにかくマイペースでクールな犬だった。
私が彼を見かける時はほとんど眠っている事が多く
名前を呼ぶと一瞬目を開けてチラッとこちらに顔を向けてくれるだけ。
起きて居る時は黙ってジッと見つめてはくれるけど
けしてウリウリしてこないし1度もシッポを振ってくれた事はない。
だけどなんだか憎めないカワイイ奴だった。
タイのマンションに着くとまずは「ロム、お～う！久しぶりだね～元気だった？」とロムにご挨拶。
帰る時も「ロム、またね～元気でね！」と。
年明け、タイから帰る時いつものようにロムに挨拶しようと
「ロム、またね～、元気でね～。」言って近ずくと
「ウウウ～」と唸られた。
こんな事は初めてだったのでビックリしてしまった。
改めてよ～くロムを見てみると、ロムの体が小刻みに震えていて
何だかとても辛そうだった。
「ロムはもう年だし、病気であちこち痛いんだ。」と
警備員さんが教えてくれた。
いつもと違うロム。
何だかいや～な予感のするいつもとは違うロムとのお別れだった。
先日、タイから帰ってきた母にロムが亡くなった事を聞いた。
「ウウウ～」と唸るロムの姿を思い出した。
相当辛かったんだろうなぁ～。
クールだけどカワイイ優しい眼をしていたロム。
皆に愛されていたロム。
タイの犬にしては長生きした方ではないだろうか。
幸せだったよね！
